Pillow talk with Joni

Estate 2009 476

Joni of Cote de Texas has a post on pillows which inspired me to ask a question:

Why (most) men don't like (decorative) pillows?

Is that because men think they are more practical and less frivolous than us ?
Is that because pillows may suggest intimacy?
Is that because they are too lazy to remove them before going to bed?
Is that because we scream when they squeeze them or throw them on the floor when watching TV?
Is that because...?
Could you please tell me why?

Thank you Albarosa. I appreciate you bringing your European sensibility to this discussion!
I also want to tell you how much I have been enjoying your posts about your trip.
It makes me want to go back to Italy as soon as possible!

maybe they hate them because they have no taste ?????

That's funny Albarosa!! I think men simply don't appreciate the decorative value of a cushion so it bugs them to have to move them, deal with them, handle them. . . that's as much as I can guess!

Pillows to men are alot of $$$, they do not say no to adding fancy rims to their cars...but pillows to the room, they say why?
Pillows tend to get in the way on a sofa, so I tell my clients to change out the inserts to down and they become grown up teddy bears that their husbands are going to use and enjoy...this works everytime...and I get the right look for the room with the pillows!!!

Brooke, Thanks for your kind words
Joni...you are too funny!
Maria, you said the same thing as Joni, in other words.
Carol Ann, thanks for the tip and the image of a teddy bear made me smile.

hi - got your comment - for firplaces you should always put the mirror on a chain so it leans forward and reflects down, not up! like papachristidis did with the headboards in that picture. i wish i had said that on there!!!!

ha - my husband walked in the room when I was reading this.. so i asked.. his response! "All of the above"

They have no patience for things that look appealing - it's all about function !

hahaha hmmmm.. I'm not sure why! I would go for the route that maybe they just don't seem practical??

Hi!

I find that my husband and some male clients- feel that dec. pillows get in the way- crowd their space! But, as for me- they add so much detail, they help make the design come together!

I think it is a Y chromosome thing. A thing of biology. One spring my husband and I worked in the garden and watched cardinals in nest mode. He, the flame-colored one, flitted about all day and at twilight came back grabbing a few hydrangea leaves to bring his mate. Moments later she flew out of the nest in the climbing hydrangeas and spit out the gift. My husband chuckled. "No explanations needed." She needed variety. He needed expediency. She was doing important work at home and her environment was very important to her. He was out and about and the nest was not as important to him. So? Men are bird-brained!

This made me laugh! And so did some of the comments. My husband just likes as much room on the sofa as possible to lie down when we wants to take a siesta.
