Il Paradiso dei Sogni

A dreamlike bestiary of ceramic characters
I like to end my posts of IDS Vancouver 2017 with the extraordinary ceramics of Matteo Cibic, the award winning Italian designer who also created a few lines of furniture for Scarlet Splendour

In our Booth we had these amazing pets, made in Italy with the finest ceramic and 24k gold finishing, in a limited edition of 99.
I assure you they were the most photographed and created lots of attraction. It was so good to see people smiling the moment they saw them!

Now I would like to present them one by one:

Hi I am White Donky... Hi I am Black Donky

 My name is Princess

 And I am Broody

I am a very LUKY dog

Matteo wanted to give us those names and they are spelled correctly, no mistakes! And here we are all together at IDS, Princess loved to be on the vanity in the background, she is so vain!

A few of us during the event were adopted by wonderful families, after the show closed Broody and Princess moved to a high-end furniture store in Vancouver, SwitzerCult Creative, so if you want to adopt them please go there or contact Brillante Interiors as representative of the line.

We are so cozy in this beautiful bookcase designed by Hagit Pincovici, but we'll be happy also in a new home, if treated well as here!

My cup of tea

Tamara Taggart, CTV news anchor, at The Cross Décor & Design, sipping tea.

It is so rewarding to be invited to events as a designer, more so when it is a Media event and you realize, Oh wait a minute…I am part of Media too (well, sort of, being only a blogger and not pretending to be anything else).
So this morning there was an event at The Cross Décor & Design, in Vancouver, for Media only (see above :) to present a new collection, of course there was also an excellent assortment of fragrant teas and a lusciously rich banana bread, but the most fun was to meet new people and to reconnect with friends.

I invite you now to go to The Cross blog and enjoy the Video shot at one of the best mansions in Vancouver, The Hycroft, where I also had the opportunity in the past to  shoot some of my B&W photography.  The video is called “Behind the Scenes” and talented Janis Nicolay was the still photographer.

Here are some of my images from today (I admit, lately I am using my iPhone…so easy to record moments)

And don’t forget…The Cross was named “Retailer of the year” in 2011, not just for their extraordinary collection of furniture, accessories, lighting, linens…but also for the professional and enthusiast team behind it.

Photo shoot of a project

Yesterday…rainy day in Vancouver but exciting photo shoot at Manito new store, where you can find luxurious silk bedding and more.  I have shown the “before” images of this project in my previous post HERE and now you can have a preview of the (almost) finished space.
As you may know a photo shoot requires days of preparation, sourcing for props, arranging furniture, adjusting lights, buying flower arrangements and in this case… steaming every single wrinkle out of pillowcases, bedspreads, bed sheets.

Manito Silk
The photographer, very professional and so pleasant to work with, Andrea Sunderland, arrived in full gear with diffusers, lenses, external flashes and all the tricks of the trade.

Of course the store looked a …bit…messy since we had to arrange
and rearrange furniture and accessories every hour.

A ladder certainly help to have different angles.

Here I am, comfortably seating (for just 5 minutes!) and checking compositions and light with my point and shoot which I used all day wondering how magical the “real” images from Andrea will be.

Charcoal and pale blue silk for this bed with a vibrant orange lampshade on the side table.

Rich plum and fresh green silk for this image, Hilary Miles beautiful roses
and…do you remember that purple tea cup from a previous post?

A more masculine look with chocolate, champagne and whipped cream silk (yum).
Angela Grossman art piece on the floor.

Designers Guild pillows, Heather Ross new candles on the antique chair
and the vivid color of Miriam Aroeste painting as a backdrop.

My favorite picture of the day? I can’t explain it but it is this one…so dramatic  and theatrical.

Silk becomes regal!

A fashionable evening at “The Room”

The Room at The Hudson's Bay

Here I am taking pictures with my iPhone (thanks so much for being known as a purist photographer, always (?) using my film camera…) on one of the best party of the year in Vancouver, the opening of The Room, a high-end designer boutique of more than 20,000 square foot at The Hudson’s Bay Company, Canadian grand dame department store.

Gorgeous clothes, interesting people, champagne flowing, delicious hors d’oeuvre and…music by the beautiful New Yorker, model and DJ: Alexandra Richards, yes… Keith’s daughter.

I was so mesmerized by the fashion, on and off the mannequins that I did not take many pictures of the interior design, but it was done beautifully and I will show you more images soon.
