2013 is coming and the Pantone color of the year will be Emerald green: who does not like the hue of this precious gem!  Sophisticated and intense colors for the above beautiful geometric pattern printed on silk by Dedar Milano.

I must admit I prefer emerald in small doses (e.g. on a lamp, in a painting) rather than as a paint colour or upholstered chair, sofa or curtains.

I wonder who in the world selects the "colour of the year." Is there a a sub-committee of the Pantone corporation, a straw vote by all the "in" designers," or is it a message directly received from the gods on Olympus? If I belonged to the pantheon of Pantone, I think I would vote for clear crystal: crystal through which we could see not particularly the future but into the essence of our own being, here, now, beyond all the vanities and little words and ideas that fill our heads, blocking out the utter simplicity and beauty of life. Happy New Year to one and all.
